Yo creo que mi casa, la de la Herrería, es como una confesión de última hora, en la que ya nada te coarta, ni te censura. En ella, y dentro de los límites que una obra arquitectónica tiene, he organizado el espacio, creado formas y elegido materiales y colores con total libertad. Y ello hasta el punto de poder afirmar que esta casa es como la expresión material de cómo soy, un autorretrato.

El proyecto y la obra de esta acsa fue como un personal ajuste ed cuentas con la ciudad de Pontevedra, mi ciudad, en la que nací y vivo; con la Plaza de la Herrería en la que pasé casi toda mi niñez y parte de mi juventud y también conmigo mismo, al tratarse de la primera casaque hago para mí, después de pasar toda la vida haciendo casas para otros.

I think of my house, in the building called "The House of the Blacksmith's Forge", as a kind of deathbed avowal, when one is beyond the reach of restraint or criticism. Within the limits imposed by any architectural project, I have organized space, created forms and chosen materials and colors with complete freedom, tothe pointwhere I can say that this house is a self-portrait, a material expression of who I am.

The design and the construction of the house meant coming to terms with Pontevedra, the city where I was born and still live and with the Plaza de la Herrería, where I spent most of my childhood and part of my adolescence. And coming to terms with myself, since this is the first house I have done for myself after spending all my life making houses for others.
